Pam has been married to Lt. Governor John Cherry for 28 years. They have two children, and one granddaughter. Meghan and her husband, Chris Hennessy live in Clio. John Daniel is a senior studying Public Policy at the University of Michigan.
Pam retired from Genesee County Circuit Court, where she was the Jury Board Coordinator for 14 years. In that role, she was instrumental in getting legislation passed to increase juror pay and raising awareness of the importance of jury duty.
Pam was appointed by Governor Granholm to serve as a commissioner on the Michigan Community Service Commission, which builds a culture of service by providing vision and resources to strengthen communities through volunteerism. She currently serves on the Early Childhood Investment Corporation. Their goal is to help children succeed in life by better preparing them from the moment they are born. She was just appointed to the Michigan Women's Commission. The Women's Commission works on improving job opportunities for women, helping them build financial security, improving women's health and welfare and preventing discrimination against women.
Early involvement in her community and local politics has helped form her deep commitment to bettering people's lives. As the youngest serving Chairperson of the 3rd District Democratic Club in Flint, she helped the members organize community service projects to help area residents. By being active in political campaigns, she helped elect commissioners, state representatives, senators, governors, congressmen and presidents who also had a need to serve in order to make better the lives of those they represented.
Michigan Blue Tiger Democrats (MBTD) is her most recent passion. MBTD promotes community service and civic engagement through our county Democratic Parties, clubs and caucuses. The goal of MBTD is to grow the party at the grass roots level.
