Ronda Stryker, Portage

Ronda Stryker

Ronda Stryker's interest's focus on education, the empowerment of women and the support of non-traditional students at the college level. She was instrumental in the development of the Women's Education Coalition fund in Kalamazoo as well as the Stryker Leadership Institute in Colorado both assisting non-traditional women in education. Contributing to the elimination of racism and sexism in our society.

Ronda Stryker received her bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1976. She earned her master's degree in special education leadership from Western Michigan University in 1982. She received an honorary degree in 2007 from the University of Northern Colorado.

After graduation, Ronda taught in the special education department of the Kalamazoo Public Schools. She spent one year teaching at Starr Commonwealth, a residential treatment center for boys in Michigan, while earning her masters degree. She went on to become a program director in the special education department of the Kalamazoo Intermediate School District.

Ronda is a director Stryker Corporation, vice chairman and director of Greenleaf Trust, a Michigan Chartered Bank, director at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation and the Kalamazoo Juvenile Foundation Board. In addition, she is trustee at Kalamazoo College in Michigan and trustee vice-president at Spelman College located in Atlanta.

In addition to corporate and non-profit leadership roles, Ms. Stryker is an accomplished calligraphy artist and photographer. She is an avid downhill skier and a passionate fan of her three children's education and life endeavors.

She has been married to her husband, William Johnston for 25 years.
