Michigan Women's Commission Executive Director Martha Truscott announced the appointment today of Alissa DeGrow of Lansing as the Program and Outreach Specialist to the Commission, which works to improve the quality of life for Michigan women.
"Over the previous year as a student assistant in the Commission office, Alissa has proven her abilities as an innovative thinker and thorough project manager," Truscott said. "Her public policy degree coupled with experience working on women's issues makes her a natural fit for this office."
In her new role, DeGrow will be responsible for developing and managing routine and special projects; providing staff assistance to the Commission's advisory committees; conducting research and assisting in policy development and outreach activities; representing the executive director at meetings and other functions; and responding to constituent inquiries and preparing brochures and other informational materials.
DeGrow earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political theory and constitutional democracy from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 2001. DeGrow has served as a crisis intervention specialist for the Council Against Domestic Assault in Lansing, and a volunteer steward for The Nature Conservancy.
