Working On Wellness April Fitness
Phrase It Any How You Like . . . Climb into fitness, Ease into fitness, Fall into fitness, Fit in fitness, Jog into fitness, Jump into fitness, Leap into fitness, Move into fitness, Put fun into fitness, Roll into fitness, Slide into fitness, Spring into fitness, Step into fitness . . . The list could probably go on and on, but the gist is the same - GET MOVING!

Look for ways to incorporate cardio, strength training and stretching in your exercise routine. If you mainly walk for exercise, remember to include some brisk walking and stair climbing to get your heart rate up. Aim for some light weight lifting for strength 2-3 times per week. Warm up before exercising, and stretch afterwards as a means of cooling down and helping to maintain flexibility.

April 21-27, 2008 is Medical Fitness Week

"The Medical Fitness Association (MFA), in conjunction with the MFA Education Committee, is sponsoring the Fourth Annual Medical Fitness Week, April 21?27, 2008. The goal of this MFA initiative is to promote an increase in physical activity levels in all ages and to highlight the medical fitness difference. During this international event, medical fitness centers and communities throughout the U.S., Canada, and Abroad are asked to offer programming that focuses on teaching families the skills they need to develop healthy lifestyle habits."

AATH is the leader in providing evidence-based information about current research and practical applications of humor." According to the AATH, therapeutic humor is "any intervention that promotes health and wellness by stimulating a playful discovery, expression, or appreciation of the absurdity or incongruity of life's situations". It may "enhance work performance, support learning, improve health, or be used as a complementary treatment of illness to facilitate healing or coping, whether physical, emotional, cognitive, social, or spiritual".                                                www.aath.org
