Top Ten Reasons to Work on Wellness

Active People
Aerobic exercise is good for your heart and your waistline. Try to get 30 minutes on most days.

Either take in
3500 calories
less or burn
3500 calories more than
you take in
to lose one
pound.

1. If everyone were well, insurance rates would have to be lower
2. You will have more energy.
3. You can climb stairs without getting too winded.
4. Fewer lectures from your doctor.
5. You can better prepare for retirement.
6. You may sleep better.
7. You may feel more in control.
8. You may finally get to see what your shoes look like.
9. You may even amaze yourself.
10. If you don't, who will?

Losing weight is hard work. Remember, you must either take in 3500 calories less or burn up 3500 calories more than you're taking in to lose one pound. Losing weight without working out means you are losing muscle and water; and that's not good. That's why a combination of healthy eating plus exercise is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. A one pound a week weight loss is very good. There are no easy answers: lifestyle change is necessary to achieve and maintain life-long weight loss.

That said, let us emphasize that the goal here should actually be fitness. Concentrate on healthy eating and getting in shape physically, and the weight loss will follow, not quickly, but gradually.
