AMENDMENT TO VETERANS' PREFERENCE RULE 3-8
|
On March 11, 2009, the Civil Service Commission approved an amendment to Rule 3-8, Veterans' Preference, effective immediately. The amendment revised the definition of "veteran" in section 3-8.2(a) to remove the restriction on retired veterans.
As a result of the amendment, retired veterans, retired disabled veterans, spouses of retired veterans, and surviving spouses of retired veterans are now eligible to request a preference in consideration when applying for a position in the classified service.
A copy of Rule 3-8 as amended is attached.
