The Office of Employment Information and Career Planning Services will help state employees and applicants by providing up-to-date state employment information and career planning services.
We offer a variety of services including the following:
State Job Qualification Determinations — Our professional staff will review résumés and let employment seekers know which state job classifications they qualify for, to help guide them in their employment search.
Career Planning — We can provide information on career paths in state government to help state employees develop plans to prepare for promotional or career change opportunities.
Job Search — We can provide current information about the different types of state jobs available and how to apply for them.
Résumé Writing and Interviewing — We offer learning tools to help job seekers create effective résumés, and to prepare for and participate in the interview process.
Presentations and Workshops — We offer state agencies on-site presentations on job information and career planning services, tailored to the department’s needs.
In-Person Assistance — Job seekers can visit the Lansing or Detroit Civil Service office to receive assistance. Computers are available in both offices for job seekers to use to obtain information about state jobs and vacancies and, for some jobs, to apply on-line.
Job searchers may schedule an appointment with one of the career planning professionals in Lansing. The office can be reached by phone at 1-800-788-1766, (517) 373-3030 (Voice), or (517) 335-0191 (TDD).
