Welcome
 Welcome to the Michigan
Department of Education's School Improvement website. In 2003, the Department
established the Office of School Improvement (OSI) to promote student learning
and achievement by providing statewide leadership, guidance and support over
a wide range of programs that directly impact teaching and learning, school
leadership and continous school improvement.
OSI worked in conjunction with school improvement specialists and educators across the state
to develop a nationally recognized "School Improvement Framework"
based on current research and best practice to support school and district continuous
improvement efforts. In the time that has passed since the inception of the School Improvement Framework, OSI has been reorganized as the Office of Education Improvement and Innovation (OEII). The work of OEII remains essentially the same as OSI. This website is filled with general school improvement
planning tools and information, promising practice, research and links to school
improvement sites across the nation. In addition, on the far left under School
Improvement you will find the names of the Framework's five strands and unique
resources to specifically support each strand.
