The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
Total Funding Available to Michigan: $3,973,771 for commodity food purchases from the United States Department of Agriculture and $995,933 to cover the costs associated with the receipt and distribution of the commodities.
Date Available: Commodity foods have been ordered and will be distributed from June through December 2009. Eligible community action agencies will begin to receive funding on May 22, 2009.
Program Information: To make funds available for food, storage, and distribution costs incurred by eligible nonprofit agencies in providing food assistance for low-income families.
Grant Information: Eligible agencies have signed letters of intent to distribute the commodities and meet the ARRA record keeping requirements. No further application will be accepted.
