School Meals Initiative (SMI) Nutrition Reviews

The Michigan Department of Education is required by the United States Department of Agriculture and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations to conduct a School Meals Initiative (SMI) Nutrition Review (7 CFR 210.19 ) at all participating School Food Authorities (SFAs) once every five years.  The review evaluates compliance, over the school week, with the nutrition standards for lunches and, as applicable, for breakfasts.
