Genesee Early College (GEC) is an intensive state-of-the-art five-year high school owned and operated by the Genesee Intermediate School District. It is located on the campus of the University of Michigan-Flint. We provide a supportive and rigorous educational environment to “underserved” students throughout Genesee County and the adjacent counties who are interested in exploring the medical and health professions. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 transferable college credits from the University of Michigan-Flint before graduating as a GEC high school student.
Highlights of Genesee Early College include a six-week hospital rotation during grade 12 and a relevant health care internship experience before graduation. Students are able to participate in almost all university campus activities and have access to university student services. GEC students in good standing are granted seamless admission to the University of Michigan-Flint upon graduation.
Applications for grades 9 and 10 students are available each year beginning February 1 at http://www.geneseeearlycollege.org. Students and parents are invited to schedule an informational meeting, visit the school, and ask questions by calling 810-591-5115.
