Highly Qualified Teachers

The Michigan Department of Education and the Office of Professional Preparation Services are committed to assuring that all Michigan educators meet the requirements of being highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001.

The first step in assuring that all Michigan educators meet the NLCB Highly Qualified requirements is to meet Michigan's certification requirements as set forth in the State Board of Education (SBE) Administrative Rules Governing the Certification of Michigan Teachers. Reflecting the policy decisions of the SBE, these rules cover the spectrum of teacher licensure/certification.
