The State Board of Education's policy PDF icon is to include all students in the Michigan Educational Assessment System. The policy is consistent with the Board’s goal to increase achievement for all students, regardless of need or ability.

The Revised School Code requires that school districts conduct annual assessments PDF icon of all students in grades 1-5. The Department of Education had developed guidance for school districts on this issue.
