Casandra E. Ulbrich

     Casandra Ulbrich (D-Rochester Hills) was elected in 2006 to an eight-year term on the Michigan State Board of Education, effective January 1, 2007.

     Ms. Ulbrich serves as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for Wayne State University.

     Before joining WSU in 2001, Casandra served as a Press Secretary to former U.S. House Democratic Whip David Bonior, acting as the official spokesperson for the Congressman. In addition, Casandra has served as an Assistant Communications Director and Political Organizer for the Michigan Democratic Party and worked for the Michigan State AFL-CIO during the 1996 elections.

     Casandra serves on several local boards, including the Walter P. Reuther Library Advisory Board, Automation Alley's STEM Education committee, and the Board of Directors for the University of Michigan Alumni Club of Greater Detroit. In addition, she is the Immediate Past President of the National Women's Political Caucus of Michigan (NWPC-MI).

     The first in her family to attend college, Casandra earned an Associates Degree from St. Clair County Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and a Masters Degree in Communication from Wayne State University. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in Communications, also from Wayne State University.

     Casandra and her husband, David Williams, live in Rochester Hills, Michigan
