The Library of Michigan promotes, advocates and consistently works to achieve the highest level of library service to the State of Michigan, its government, its libraries and its residents.
Highlights of the Library of Michigan's Role in Serving Michigan
- As the official state library agency for Michigan, we have provided research assistance to Michigan state government and legislative staff since territorial days.
- Library Development and Data Services support libraries statewide by providing services such as MeL coordination, certification for librarians, LSTA administration, and materials for library trustees.
- Our Michigan Collection, comprised of current and historical materials with a focus on Michigan and spanning all subject areas, captures the essence of Michigan.
- Our Genealogy Collection and reference staff support family history researchers worldwide.
- Serving as a Regional Federal Depository and as the Michigan Documents Depository, the Library of Michigan advances the public right to know by providing ready access to government information.
