MISSION

The Library of Michigan Foundation raises funds to support special programs, services and collections of the Library of Michigan.

PROGRAMS

The Library of Michigan Foundation meets its mission by raising private funds for special programs and collections of the Library of Michigan. In its 22-year history, the Foundation has received nearly $6 million in individual, corporate, foundation and estate gifts. Since its founding, the Foundation has contributed $465,000 to support adult and youth literacy programs across the state and over $2 million to the Abrams Genealogy Collection. Since 1996, it has contributed $83,000 to the Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped program. And, since 2005, it has supported the Michigan Notable Books program with nearly $150,000. The Foundation received over $850,000 in gifts for the construction of the Martha W. Griffiths Michigan Rare Book Room, which was inaugurated in the fall 2003. Over the years, it has also supported special Library of Michigan programs, such as Rural Libraries Conference, Mahoney Workshops for Youth Librarians and the State Librarian's Excellence Award.
