The State Law Library is part of the Library of Michigan and is located in the Michigan Library and Historical Center, a few blocks west of the State Capitol between Allegan and Kalamazoo Streets at 702 W. Kalamazoo Street. The State Law Library provides research and legal resource materials for members of the State Legislature, executive and judicial branches to assist them in their performance of official duties. Members of the general public are welcome to use the State Law Library and its collections.
Librarians are available to assist library users with research. We can
- Assist in finding resources in the Library of Michigan's ANSWER catalog
- Provide assistance in locating a statute, court opinion, court rule or administrative regulation
- Explain how to begin statutory and case law research
- Explain how to find secondary materials that summarize the law
- Provide guidance to reliable, law-related Internet sites

Beginning March 14, 2011, the State Law Library will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Questions or requests for copies of documents may be sent to lmlawlib@michigan.gov.
