Newspapers are a vital resource for local history, genealogy and other research needs. The Library of Michigan has the state's largest collection of Michigan newspapers. The collection's holdings span the 200-year history of the state's newspaper publishing industry. Lansing Republican newspaper and microfilm at the Library of Michigan.
The collection includes titles from all 83 counties, and in many languages representing many of Michigan's ethnic communities. Newspaper Holdings

• Library of Michigan Newspaper Holdings
The following is a list of the Michigan newspapers on microfilm at the Library of Michigan. The list is organized by county, and arranged alphabetically by city and title. The dates listed for each title are generalized; the Library may not own every issue for each year listed. Detailed holding information can be obtained from ANSWER, the Library's online catalog.

The county where a city is located can be determined through the National Association of Counties.

If you are unable to visit the Library of Michigan to use the newspaper collection, another option for newspaper lookups is to ask at your local library about requesting materials through interlibrary loan. Michigan libraries may borrow microfilm for the newspaper you wish to search. Out-of-state libraries may request copies of articles for you if you provide a complete citation.
