The Michigan Center for the Book is a program of the Library of Michigan and its affiliates. Each sponsor the Michigan Center for the Book. The
Center was formally chartered in 1986 as the Michigan affiliate of the
National Center for the Book
at the Library of Congress.
Centers for the Book have been established in most states. The Michigan
Center draws from the resources of the Library of Michigan and its affiliates and works
cooperatively with many organizations to stimulate an interest in the

Center Organization
The Library of Michigan provides administrative support for the Center.
Affiliates provide programming ideas and support for the Center. Affiliates may be any state organization that is supportive of the goals of the Center for the Book. There are currently 23 affiliates.
