In 2007, Flint Community Schools and Suttons Bay High School was cited for noncompliance with federal and state laws and regulations that affect the performance of students with disabilities.
Flint was cited for their dropout rate of students with disabilities, over-identification of students as cognitively impaired, and the least restrictive environment. Suttons Bay was cited for having a disproportionate number of Native American students receiving special education services. Both cases are now closed.
