• $10.00 search fee per name for a 3-year search for marriages and deaths; $3.00 for each additional year done by staff
• $5.00 search fee per name for Civil, Criminal and Divorce records for searches done by staff
• $1.00 per page for court pleadings

Comments: All records except births may be researched by genealogists. Space is available for one or two genealogists at a time on a first-come, first-serve basis. Time may be limited to two hours if others are waiting. Children are allowed, but not encouraged. No cameras allowed.

Births: 1867 to present. Birth records are only Public Records when the record is 110 years old or more. Researcher must be an heir, must have full name, date of birth, and prove death in order to obtain a certified record. Search is done by staff after all requirements are met in accordance with MCL 33.2882.

Deaths: 1867 to present

Marriages: 1859 to present

Divorces: 1900 to present

Naturalization: 1861 to 1965

Anne Norlander, Calhoun County Clerk-Register, and Toni Fritz, the Clerk-Register's Administrative Assistant, conducted a survey of offices in 1993 in order to make this information available to the public. Calhoun County printed the 1994 Michigan County Clerks Genealogy Directory, prepared as a product of this inventory. The Archives of Michigan revised this on-line edition of the directory in 2001.
