| Plinkit |
Plinkit provides an easy-to-learn, easy-to-update website. It is designed for libraries without specialized technology staff but it is easily expandable for libraries that wish to add features. There is no cost to the libraries and the technology "heavy lifting" is done by the Library of Michigan. Training and refresher courses are free. If you can operate Microsoft Word, you can operate Plinkit.
Plinkit (Public Library Interface Kit) is a national initiative. It is a library-specific template that allows for substantial customization of look and feel (for instance, a choice of 16 color schemes and the ability to select among professionally designed banners or one of your own creation).
In Michigan, the Library of Michigan has joined the Plinkit Collaborative. We have taken on all costs associated with the program and made these websites free. We have over 100 live Plinkit libraries. Would you like a Plinkit site? Please fill out an application at http://michlibrary.org/thinking-of-joining/application.
