- Sally Vaughn - Deputy Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer
Dr. Sally Vaughn was the superintendent of Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) in Howell, Michigan, where she was responsible for providing leadership and support services to five local school districts and two public school academies in Livingston County, serving over 30,000 students. Services include special education, early childhood, career and technical education, staff development, and computer services.
Prior to her superintendence at LESA, she served as Associate Superintendent for Learning Services for Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) in Wayne, Michigan for eleven years. In that role, she provided leadership and support services to 34 local school districts and eight public schools authorized by Wayne RESA, serving nearly 500,000 students.
She also served in administrative and consultant capacities for Wayne RESA in grants and planning, state and federal programs, school improvement, and career and technical education. She began her educational career as a Business English teacher in Detroit.
Dr. Vaughn has served as president of the Michigan Association for Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA), member of the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA), member of the Governing Board for the American Association for School Administrators, member of the National Association of State and Federal Programs Board, and chair of the MAISA Committees on Ethics and Early Childhood Education.
She received the Michigan Association of State and Federal Program Specialists' Educator of the Year Award in 2003 and the MAISA President's Distinguished Service Award in 2005. She was appointed by Governor Granholm to the Board of Directors for the Early Childhood Investment Corporation in 2006.
Dr. Vaughn received her B.A. from Western Michigan University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
