Office of Special Education to Host Fall Forum, Nov. 4-5

The MDE, Office of Special Education will host a Fall Forum to provide educational leaders with critical information to support the effective implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Office of Special Education continues to focus on strengthening student outcomes while maintaining high levels of compliance. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the current issues and trends specific to the delivery of special education services in Michigan. The conference will provide a great opportunity for you and your team to get into gear for a successful year. Let’s FALL into compliance and SPRING forward to improved student outcomes!

Who Should Attend: Sessions are intended for special education directors, supervisors, and service providers. The sessions with a fiscal focus may be of particular interest to business officials and finance personnel.

Keynote Speaker: Stevan Kukic, Director of School Transformation, National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) Stevan Kukic is the Director of School Transformation for the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD), focusing on the needs of students with LD and other learning difficulties. He is the past chair of the Professional Advisory Board for NCLD and served on the Board of Directors for the Center as chair of NCLD’s Public Policy committee.
