Karen Parker Deputy Director, Information Technology and Project Management
Karen Parker is deputy director for Information Technology and Project Management for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
She oversees the Bureau of Tech and Project, Office of Medicaid Health Information Technology and Managed Care System Operations.
Parker previously served as the bureau director of Medicaid Operations for the former Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), where she was responsible for directing all activities related to the processing of provider settlements, fee for service payments (including oversight of the Medicaid Management Information System), provider relations, provider enrollment and Third Party Liability.
During her tenure at MDCH, she held several leadership roles with implementing the following key health initiatives:
- IMPACT - Michigan/Illinois Medicaid Management Information
- Healthy Michigan Plan.
- Medicaid Modernization.
- Center of Shared Services.
- Implementation and Certification of Michigan’s Medicaid
Management Information System.
She has more than 26 years of experience in health care administration in both the private and public sector. Her previous positions within the State of Michigan include assignments with Medicaid Payments.
