Agency: Transportation

COUNTY: Mackinac

HIGHWAY: US-2

CLOSEST CITY: Epoufette

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Monday, April 27, 2009

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Mid- to late-October 2009

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will resume work to replace the deck and repair steel on the US-2 Cut River Bridge. The project, which began last year, also includes partial painting and joint replacement on the structure.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: This project requires a detour on nearby Cut River and Prater roads, adding seven to 10 minutes in travel time for through- traffic. No oversize transport permits will be issued on the detour route. The roadside parks located at each end of the bridge will remain closed until the bridge reopens to traffic.

For up-to-date information on this project, go to the list of statewide lane closures at: www.michigan.gov/drive.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This project will extend the service life of this bridge, and improve ride quality and safety for motorists.

MDOT: Working to improve our state roads and bridges.
