Press conference to highlight importance of road funding; study shows 33% of nation's roads in poor condition

WHAT: The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), TRIP, a transportation research group, and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold a news conference to release findings from a new report.

BACKGROUND: A new report by AASHTO and TRIP shows that 33 percent of the nation's major highways are rated in poor or mediocre condition. The report, "Rough Roads Ahead: Fix Them Now or Pay for It Later," shows that rough roads cost drivers hundreds of additional dollars annually in vehicle operating costs.
