Lane closure on EB I-496 to affect football traffic and Monday morning commuters

START DATE: Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009

END DATE: Monday, Sept. 14, 2009

PROJECT: Starting later this week, concrete pavement repairs begin along eastbound I-496 between Waverly Road and Cedar Street in Lansing.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: On Thursday, the right lane of eastbound I-496 will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

On Friday, the right lane will again be closed starting at 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14. In addition, the eastbound I-496 exit and entrance ramps at Lansing Road, M-99 (Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.), and Pine Street also will close at 8:30 a.m. on Friday until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Motorists going to the Michigan State University football game in East Lansing on Saturday, Sept. 12, or motorists commuting into Lansing on Monday morning are strongly encouraged to seek an alternate route to their destination. Alternate routes include I-69 to US-127 to I-496, I-96 to US-127, and M-43 (Saginaw Street).
