US-23 ARRA project to start Monday, Sept. 14

STARTING DATE: Monday, Sept. 14, 2009

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Early October 2009

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin repair work 2.5 miles north of M-65 in Augres Township. Located on US-23 over the Big Creek, the $57,000 project entails repairing the concrete barrier railing.

This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Throughout this project, one lane will remain open in each direction on US-23. The highway is expected to fully reopen to traffic by early October, when repairs are expected to be completed.
