Old US-31 resurfacing begins in Oceana County

STARTING DATE: Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will resurface over 8 miles of Old US-31 in Oceana County. The project will start at M-20 and move north to the south city limits of Shelby and then resume on the north side of Shelby continuing to the Pentwater River Bridge. Work also includes drainage improvements and safety upgrades.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Weekday single lane and shoulder closures will be implemented with flag control to maintain traffic.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This $1.5 million project will improve the roadway surface and increase the ride quality while extending the service life.
