Public asked for feedback on Mi Drive traffic Web site

September 23, 2009 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is looking for feedback on its popular Mi Drive traffic Web site (www.michigan.gov/drive). The public is asked to complete a short pop-up survey to evaluate the traffic information and maps on the site to ensure that MDOT is meeting the needs of motorists who go online to plan their routes. The survey will be available until the end of the month.

Originally introduced in 2007, the Mi Drive site has been revamped several times. The Web site, which recorded 354,870 page views in August, provides motorists with an online resource where they can read about and visually locate current information about lane closures, construction projects and MDOT traffic cameras in Detroit and Grand Rapids. MDOT posts the information for motorists to check before they get behind the wheel.

A link called "Statewide Travel Times" has been added to advise motorists of traffic flow on US, M and I routes in Michigan. Green lines on the interactive map represent traffic that is moving smoothly at the posted speeds, while red lines indicate traffic that may be slowed or stopped.

The Mi Drive site is maintained by MDOT and the Michigan Department of Information Technology in cooperation with the state's Center for Shared Solutions & Technology Partnerships and the Intelligent Transportation Systems program office within the MDOT Division of Operations.
