Farm Lane grand opening celebration Friday, Oct. 16

WHAT: A ribbon-cutting celebration to formally announce that Farm Lane and Service Road, on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU), have reopened. The roads have been closed since March 2008 for construction of two new railroad overpasses designed to increase motorist and pedestrian safety and improve mobility through the corridor.

DETAILS: Farm Lane and Service Road will be closed on Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the grand opening event. A detour will be posted.

The ribbon-cutting celebration will consist of a formal presentation, a parade down Farm Lane and an informal walk to showcase the New Farm Lane.

For the event, members of the media are encouraged to park along Service Road, just west of Farm Lane. The public is encouraged to park at the Trowbridge Road parking ramp located next to the Communication Arts and Science building. CATA will be providing shuttle buses to transport people from the Trowbridge Road ramp to the event location.
