I-275 bridge repair in Wayne County scheduled to begin in mid-October

Contact:  Rob Morosi, MDOT Office of Communications, 248-483-5127
Agency: Transportation

October 8, 2009 -- Extensive repair to 15 bridges along I-275 in Wayne County is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 12, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The bridge rehabilitation work will take place between Will Carleton Road and West Huron River Drive. Traffic restrictions on I-275 and corresponding overpasses are scheduled in order to accommodate the repair work.

Initial work will require lane restrictions on northbound I-275 from Will Carelton Road to West Huron River Drive. Additionally, crews will close and detour traffic on the overpasses that carry Pennsylvania, Will Carleton and Willow roads over I-275. South Huron River Drive and Sibley Road overpasses will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, while on the West Huron River Drive bridge eastbound traffic will be detoured and westbound motorists will have a single lane.

For travelers heading to Metro Airport, the ramps at the I-275/Eureka Road interchange will remain open during construction. The Eureka Road overpass will have two lanes maintained in each direction.

This $7.6 million project is expected to be completed in late March 2010.
