US-23/Melita Road bridge repairs to begin Monday, Oct. 19

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Late October 2009

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin repairs on southbound US-23 at Melita Road in Arenac County. Work includes heat straightening and bolted repairs on the structural steel areas of the bridge.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: During repairs, the right lane of southbound US-23 will remain closed at Melita Road under the bridge. The southbound US-23 ramp to northbound I-75 will remain open just west of Melita Road.

Routine traffic control will be provided by the MDOT statewide bridge crew.
