MDOT to discuss new M-59 sound walls in Macomb and Oakland counties

WHAT: Open house-style meeting to inform the public about the noise analysis results conducted on M-59 for the ongoing widening project between Crooks and Ryan roads in the communities of Rochester Hills, Sterling Heights, and Shelby Township. Attendees will be able to hear a brief presentation, and will be provided opportunities to comment and have their questions answered by Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and consultants.

BACKGROUND: The ongoing M-59 project includes total reconstruction of over 5 miles of M-59, and adding a single lane in each direction.

Based on the results of the noise analysis conducted during the design of the project, two sound walls will be built after the freeway project is completed. One wall will be located on eastbound M-59 near Rochester Road, the other on westbound M-59 near Dequindre Road. Sound wall construction will be in 2011.
