State Street Bridge removal scheduled in Bridgeport

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to remove the State Street Bridge in Bridgeport, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7 a.m. Work is expected to wrap up the same day by 7 p.m., but will resume Thursday morning, Jan. 14, if not completed within the anticipated time span.

This project, part of an historic restoration effort, includes the removal and transport of the bridge, which crosses Dixie Highway at State Street, just south of I-75 in Bridgeport Township.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Motorists traveling on Dixie Highway through Bridgeport Township will follow posted detour routes during work hours. Crews will replace any disrupted utilities, necessary to accommodate the bridge removal, before reopening Dixie Highway.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This $2.1 million project will increase mobility and benefit Michigan residents by providing a non-motorized crossing over the Cass River in Bridgeport Township.
