Who actually installs the flashing-light signals or gate arms, the railroad or the government agency in charge of the road? Who is responsible for maintaining these signals?
 
Answer:
Railroad forces install flashing-light signals or gate arms and are responsible for their maintenance. The road authority, depending on the crossing agreement, may be responsible for the cost of maintenance which can be $1,000 per year or more for each crossing.
