How are train speeds through communities determined?
 
Answer:
Train speeds are established by the railroad companies, based upon engineering design criteria and the type of train signal system in place. Oversight is provided by the Federal Railroad Administration. The State of Michigan does not regulate train speeds nor the length of trains.
