An annual application for sign permit renewal will be mailed to the permit holder. The sign permit renewal application must include the following items in order to be complete:

• A statement signed by the permit holder indicating: (1) the conditions shown in the original application have not changed, or a description of any changes that have occurred, (2) the permit holder continues to have the landowner's consent to erect and maintain the sign on the property, and (3) the permit holder accepts and agrees to current permit conditions.
• A renewal fee of $50.00 for a sign up to and including 300 square feet or $80.00 for a sign greater than 300 square feet. The required payment shall be made to the "State of Michigan."

If renewal fees are not postmarked at least 30 days prior to the permit(s) expiration, the annual renewal fee for each permit shall increase by an additional $20.00. If the annual renewal fee for any permit is not paid within 60 days after the permit expiration date, the department may cancel the permit.

Note: Permits for religious and service club signs are not charged a renewal fee. The permits are automatically renewed on an annual basis.
