MDOT - MIS Race Day Travel
Michigan International Speedway and MDOT update race weekend traffic pattern
MDOT will extend the special one-way pattern for outbound traffic on race Sundays at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) during the Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race.

Pure Michigan 400On race Sunday, August 21:
  • Local roads near MIS will become one-way inbound on Sunday morning starting at 6 a.m. Roads will become one-way outbound when there are 50 laps left in the race. All routes will be signed.
  • After the race, all outbound traffic at Vicary Road and US-127 will only be allowed to go north, or to turn right, on to US-127. Outbound traffic on US-127 will have use of the paved shoulders along US-127, from Vicary/Taylor Road north to M-50 after the race. Motorists are encouraged to use the shoulder as an extra lane when exiting MIS on race days.

NOTE: Several MDOT projects still will have restrictions in place over race weekend and MDOT urges motorists to drive with caution in work zones. Those projects include:

    - US-223, Lenawee County, just east of Blissfield, one lane of traffic is being maintained at two separate locations with a temporary signal for culvert work. The temporary signals will heavily favor in-bound race traffic in the morning and out-bound race traffic in the afternoon.
Traffic traveling the opposite direction of race traffic may experience delays on US-223 the day of race and should plan extra time.

    - I-96, Ingham County, just east of US-127, single-lane closures in each direction for permanent pavement stripping.
