BACKGROUND: This new $3.5 million facility is part of Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm's City of Promise Initiative. The project included land acquisition, design and construction.
MDOT TSCs are designed to respond to the transportation needs of local communities. TSCs perform a number of functions, including issuing permits, road and bridge construction and maintenance, and responding to urgent transportation needs, such as road closures due to storm damage.
The Oakland TSC has a staff of 45 employees that are available to advise local residents about state and federal funding opportunities to meet local needs, and provide information about MDOT construction projects.
