February 22, 2010 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Bureau of Aeronautics and Freight Services presented its annual Airport Sponsor of the Year Award to Oakland County and Consultant of the Year Award to Jacobsen/Daniels Associates, LLC (JDA) of Ypsilanti. The awards were announced recently at the 19th Annual Michigan Airports Conference in East Lansing.

"Each of these awards highlights not only excellence in performance, but the unique partnership between the state, local government and private industry, with the common goal of improving the state's aviation infrastructure," said Rick Hammond, administrator, MDOT Airports Division.

Airport Sponsor of the Year recipient Oakland County was recognized for excellent service provided to aviation through the development of numerous airport safety, environmental and noise mitigation projects at Oakland County International Airport, and for airport safety and infrastructure preservation efforts at Oakland-Troy Airport and Oakland-Southwest Airport.

Consultant of the Year JDA is an active partner in the Wayne County Airport Authority's ongoing noise mitigation efforts. The company played a significant role in noise studies at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Willow Run Airport. In addition, JDA has been a partner in the Neighborhood Sound Insulation Program at Oakland County International Airport.

JDA was founded in Ypsilanti in 2001. The firm specializes in airport and land-use master planning, while also providing services in urban and environmental planning, architectural and engineering design, and facilities management. Since its founding, the company has grown to include offices in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Louisville, New Orleans and St. Louis.

MDOT: Working with our partners at airports, bus systems, marine and rail to find innovative solutions for Michigan's transportation systems.
