July 5, 2005 - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin work on a $1.4 million project on M-57 in Kent and Montcalm Counties on Monday, July 11.
Work includes nearly six miles of milling and resurfacing on M-57 from Northland Drive to Ramsdell Drive and at the Lincoln Lake Avenue intersection; and 5.8 miles of asphalt overlay on M-57 from Ramsdell Drive to Lincoln Lake Avenue and from Lincoln Lane Avenue to Montcalm Avenue.
"This project will improve the ride quality of the roadway for motorists and preserve the life of the pavement," said Erick Kind, Acting Manager of MDOT's Transportation Service Center in Grand Rapids.
During milling and resurfacing work, M-57 from Northland Drive to Montcalm Avenue will have one lane of alternating traffic open through the use of flag control from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. During all other work, there will be intermittent lane and shoulder closures during daytime hours.
Protect Michigan Families: Please slow down in work zones.
