September 18, 2006 - - Contractors are scheduled to begin work on M-24, Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 6 a.m. In order for work to progress, M-24 near Briar Hill Road will be closed to through-traffic. The M-24 closure will be in effect one week. The estimated completion date for the work is Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006.
"The contractor will be installing a box culvert at Mirror Lake Drain," said Armando Lopez, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) delivery engineer. "The installation is necessary to further ongoing construction in the area."
MDOT's existing project, which starts at M-24 and proceeds north from Pratt Road, ends at the I-69/M-24 interchange. This work involves converting approximately five miles of two-lane road to a four-lane boulevard.
"If you live south of Mirror Lake Drain, all motorists will need to enter and leave from Newark Road," said Dewane Petzold, MDOT engineer.
For technical information regarding this project, contact Armando Lopez or Dewane Petzold at 810-653-7470, Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This project continues a commitment by MDOT and the Granholm administration to create jobs, improve quality of life, and provide the highest quality integrated transportation services for Michigan residents and businesses.
