WHAT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting an open house-style meeting to discuss upcoming construction work on M-53 (Van Dyke freeway) in Macomb County. The project includes rehabilitation to the 26 Mile Road overpass above M-53. Residents, business owners and other interested stakeholders will have the opportunity to review proposed plans and construction schedules.

BACKGROUND: Scheduled to begin in March 2009, MDOT will rehabilitate 8 miles of the M-53 freeway between 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights and 27 Mile Road in Washington Township.
The project includes the replacement of the 26 Mile Road overpass above M-53, construction of roundabouts, new sidewalks and upgraded utilities.
