BACKGROUND: MDOT is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) Evaluation for the proposed replacement of the M-139 (formerly US-12 Business Route) bridge over the St. Joseph River in Niles. Although the bridge was rehabilitated in 1996, the 91-year-old structure continues to deteriorate. The EA process will outline the problems with the bridge, propose solutions and encourage public input. Visit www.michigan.gov/mdotstudies for details and to follow study progress.
MDOT says: Construction work zones need your undivided attention.
