Stephanie Litaker, Acting MDOT Director of Communications 517-335-3084
The Michigan Department of Transportation today announced the 2003 road repair guide, "Paving the Way," is now available. This free publication provides a useful reference to major road and bridge projects during the 2003 construction season.
"We're just days away from the official start of spring, which means we're only days away from the unofficial start of construction across the state," said State Transportation Director Gloria J. Jeff. "Planning ahead is one of the best ways to avoid construction-related delays and this guide is the best tool in the box for such a task."
"Paving the Way" is available at MDOT's Transportation Service Centers, at Michigan Welcome Centers, and is posted at state rest areas. Along with the printed map, a regularly updated electronic version will be available March 24 on MDOT's Web site at www.michigan.gov/mdot.
MDOT also recommends calling its 24-hour information lines when traveling in metro Detroit or west Michigan. Motorists can call 1-800-641-MDOT for 24-hour, toll-free access to project information for Detroit's tri-county area. When traveling in west or southwest Michigan, motorists should call 1-888-305-PAVE.
To request copies of "Paving the Way", please contact the MDOT Office of Communications at 517-373-2160.
