How traffic will be affected

Crews are working on M-59 between Byron Road and Mallard Pond (just east of Fairlawn Drive), as part of the M-59 widening project. Traffic has been shifted to the newly rebuilt lanes on the south side of M-59 so work can continue on the northern portion of this project. Currently, paving will occur from Michigan Avenue to the east limits of the project on the south side of M-59. Several side streets will be temporarily closed for 15 - 30 minutes for the paving operation to move through the area.

The next intersection closures will be on the north side of M-59. Here are the tentative dates and roads for the next intersection closures:

Brewer Road ~ 7/28/08 (south side is Highlander Way) for an undetermined amount of days.
Kroger's west entrance ~ 7/28/08 for an undetermined amount of days
Byron Road ~ 9/8/08 for 14 days
Oak Grove ~ 9/22/08 (south side is Michigan Ave) for 14 days

Byron and Oak Grove intersections will not be closed at the same time. They will be used as detour routes for the other closures. Overall, one lane of traffic on M-59 will be maintained at all times during construction. All construction along M-59 is expected to be completed in October of this year.
