Old M-21 (Chicago Drive) in Hudsonville

• What we are doing
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $3.4 million to improve 3.4 miles of Old M-21 (Chicago Drive) from Rush Creek in the city of Hudsonville to west of Main Street in Georgetown Township (Jenison).

• Contact: Muskegon Transportation Service Center at
231-777-3451

• Start: April, 2007 End: July 2008

How traffic is affected
  • Old M-21 (Chicago Drive) traffic will be maintained with traffic shifts and lane or shoulder closures, with a minimum of one lane open in each direction at all times

  • Overnight lane closures will be required at the bridge over Rush Creek during the barrier wall replacement work for several weekends to allow for the concrete joint repairs

  • During the other stages of this project, MDOT will make every effort to minimize commuter traffic congestion by restricting morning lane closures to the westbound lanes and afternoon lane closures to the eastbound lanes

Project benefits
These improvements on Old M-21 (Chicago Drive) will allow for continued service of the roadway while improving the ride quality.
