How traffic is affected:
A minimum of three lanes of traffic will be open in each direction on I-696 via traffic shifts, with the exception of a three-week period when east- and westbound I-696 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction over the Rouge River and over Drake Road for bridge deck replacement.
During off-peak hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) and at all times on weekends, I-696 may be reduced to two lanes in each direction.
Traffic on local bridges will be maintained with a single lane in each direction where possible. Other structures will be closed and detoured to the next available overpass.
